A new experience.
Tuesday at ICLC was straight forward, Spanish class and then later we had to cook, again. This time it was a sort of pancakes with maiz. The taste was ok, but not like pancakes in Denmark. I think the pancakes and in general the food in Costa Rica is healthy. Not much fat nor oil/butter in the food.
Well no more about the cooking.
Before we left class Sofia said, Your home work for tomorrow is a presentation, where you come from and what you do and so on. Walk in the park, no problem. But more to come, we also had to make a presentation of Denmark in spanish, well easy. Dinamarca es un país pequeño. En Dinamarca hay cinco millones habitantes, cuatro estaciones, primera, verano, otoño y inverno. Clima en Dinamarca es bastante frío. And so on, pice of cake. But tomorrow you have to make the presentation in la escuela San Louis in 2 different classes. Wtf. We have only been taught Spanish for the past 7 days.
Wednesday around 10 am we went to the school San Louis and made the introduction and told about Denmark, my partner was kind of sad today so I had to do it all. Excelente Thomas, Sofía said to me. Gracias, bien.
After the two presentations we were waiting outside on a bench, suddenly one hundred of the kids started to talk in spanish and wanted our names and autographs, where we came from, what we liked about Costa Rica, and more.
The kids was so nice and straight forwad. Mae, pura vida, I have never seen kids so curious and open before any where. We had to tell them everything. It was a really nice experience I will remember for ever.
Later that day when I went to the supermarket, I was walking behind a mother with her two sons. Suddenly one of the kids turned around and said Hola, pura vida, it was one of the kids from the school. So cool. I love the kids in Costa Rica.
You have to be there to feel the warm and love the kids give to you. Only met them for about 20 minutes in class and they followed as you were an rockstar from a famous band, or a famous football player.
That’s all for now, until next time.
Hasta luego.

End of first week and a new week begins.
Sunday and start of a new week.
Sunday was very nice, breakfast and later of to Grecia. Grecia is a small town approx 20 minutes by bus. I went to el parque and there was some kind of activity called ”Vamos al parque” something arranged by the municipality. I meet a few persons and had a chat with them, told them I was from Denmark y bla bla bla.
One thing I noticed during the talk was that Costa Rican can be open very open easy to talk to, but this guy told me that there are two types those who want to talk and those who don’t want to talk, nothing in between. Kind of weird, every where you read about Costa Rica the statement is, they are very open and want to talk.
Taking the bus in Costa Rica is very easy and cheap. A bus from Carrillos to Grecia or Carrillos to Alajuela cost around 5 DKK. That is cheap compared to busses and trains in Denmark.
If you don’t go the entire way to a busstop, you press a button or pull a wire to stop the bus, and you can get off the bus. In case of none of the above buttons, wires are implemented, you have to shout ”Parada” which means stop the bus I want to get off. Easy.
Tomorrow a new day begin.
Today is Monday, some times I hate Mondays but this Monday was really good.
We arrived at the school this morning and we didn’t have homework for the weekend. Gracias Sofía.. Sofía is our teacher. But sometimes you have the feeling of something is coming to you as a shadow, and there was a but. Sofía said today: After one week at the school ”No inglés y danese” WTF just happened, but that is the only way forward.
So get back on the horse and move forward.
Los interrogativos , qué, quién, cómo, cuál, cuántos, por qué, cuándo (what, who, how, which one, how many, why, when) and the way to use them. Interrogativos + verbos, interrogativos + sustantivos. And that was not enough, we had to practice all adverbios de Lugar (Adverbs about place) up, down, behind, in front, to the left, to the right, on, next to and so on. A really hard day, but it was fine.
And to complete the punishment on a Monday: Dos tareas. Homework, muy bien Sofia.
The homework only took half an hour, so pretty easy, then a few hours to interpret the word over and over again.
Later today I went to the gym to start do some exercise, pice of cake. The instructors was happy to meet me and helped me to get acuinted with the gym and the people. Very nice.
Normally I do 3 sets of 15 times an exercise, but no, here we do 4 times 25 OMG I’m dead. First a short warm up, 2 kilometers of running just to be ready for the killing. It was nice, I will probably look like a wrestler before I finish my stay in CR.
Hasta luego.
First time in a Catholich church
A day with new a experience.
Today I learned about the Catolich church in Costa Rica. I don’t know if it is different from other Catholic churches in other countries but it was a very special evening.
Por la mañana mi madre mi dijo que iba a la iglesia en la noche. I don’t why, but I asked if I could join her together with Johanna, the other student from Denmark.
She said it would be nice if we joined her to the church in the evening.
Well shit happens, but it was a really a fun evening even though none of us understod pretty much of it. In Denmark you only stand a few times for short period of time during the lecture, but in the catolich church you stand for almost half the time. It was quite an excercise, sit, stand, kneel and so on. I think I need to go to the gym before being a chatolic.
The service takes around 1½ to 2 hours normally but today it was a full 2 hours service in the church. Maria, mi madre en Costa Rica told me that it was due to the confirmation of the kids.
One thing the Danish Church could learn from the catolich Church is: songs and music are really good, after a few lines in Spanish you are able to join in and sing along. Guitars and fast tunes instead of the slow tunes played by the organ in the Danish church.
Hasta luego. Pura vida.
